Today's photo is a shot of one of the smallest, but most meaningful, monuments in Washington, DC.
It's dedicated to the valiant soldiers from the District of Columbia who died in "The World War." That's right--the first one. Back when they thought it would be the only one. The one whose end is celebrated in Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day up here. Of course, the holiday, in both countries, now honors all veterans.
But still, from the "you'd never see this in the U.S. department": The Canadian Football League has agreed to push its Sunday game time to 1 p.m. so that its kickoff doesn't conflict with Armistice/Remembrance Day parades.
Entertainment taking a back seat to real life. What a concept.
