Absurd-istan, in my world, is anything or anyone who receives an inordinate amount of media attention. For some people (any "starlet" of either gender misbehaving), any media attention is an absurd amount. In other cases, a topic enters the realm of Absurd-istan when I get sick of hearing about it. (Hey, it's my world.)
Case in point: Conrad Black. Canada apparently can't get enough of Conrad Black. Sometimes the folks up here report the stories with a bit of pissiness, possibly because he gave up his Canadian citizenship to buy a title in England. Or maybe they're envious of his success as a media mogul. Recently, Maclean's has published stories that show pity for him because those nasty Americans are persecuting him unfairly and the gazillionaire can't seem to buy a good lawyer.
Whatever, enough already. News flash: The laws apply to everyone. There. That's Conrad Black.
